Job Title Principal - Software Engineering
The Purpose of This Role
As a Principal - Software Engineer, you will focus on both front end and back end technologies, working directly with both technical and business stakeholders to translate a vision and designs into sustainable business solutions. You will be responsible for the development of complex software applications, ensuring they are built with quality, consistency to our standards, performance and responsive to the device accessing the application.

This Principal - Software Engineer will play a Development role within the Digital Platforms Development team. This individual will be responsible for the creation of quality web based software components that are used by Fidelitys workplace customers. This person will work closely with the project manager, systems analysts, architects, and other developers to design, build, test, and deliver the features that make up Fidelitys internet experience. They will be expected to work closely and collaborate with other developers on projects.
Responsibilities of the role includes
- Provides business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications
- Performs independent technical and functional analysis for multiple projects
- Designs applications or subsystems on major projects and platforms
- Participates in application level architecture design and review
- Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications supporting several corporate initiatives
- Supports and performs all phases of testing leading to implementation
- Provides guidance and mentoring to other developers
- Works under minimal direction
- Represents technology solutions to our business partners
- May serve as on-call resource to support the organization's service and escalation model.

- Displays a full understanding of the software development process including analysis, design, coding, system and user testing, problem resolution and planning.
- Ability to use formal methods (traditional structured or agile/iterative) for delivering new or enhanced applications, identify and communicate systems development processes and develop deliverables associated with the respective phases of the lifecycle

- Required Technical skills
- Experience in Client side development Angular, Javascript
- Strong software development skills using Java and web application technologies hosted on tomcat
- Experience in Server Side development - Java, J2EE, Spring core, Spring MVC, Spring boot, Junit, Integration with SOAP and RESTful webservices
- Working experience of Inversion of Control, dependency injection, and MVC design pattern
- Strong knowledge of responsive web design and technologies
- Strong knowledge of continuous integration and deployment - Jenkins, Udeploy, BIT bucket
- Experience in Agile development methodology and Jira tool
- Experience with the following is a plus: GIT, Maven, Jenkins, uDeploy, JIRA
- Knowledge of client side technologies: Node, Handlebars, Backbone and Cordova a plus
