Position : Senior Site Reliability Engineer (NOSQL/SQL DBA)

Position Summary:

We are looking for experienced and motivated SQL DBAs who will shape up and drive the Database Performance and Scaling initiatives at FarEye. You will be champion and owner for most of the databases ( SQL and NoSQL ) for our Products and Solutions. You will work very closely with Product engineers, Business owners, and other SREs to deliver enterprise grade SaaS Platform by providing a 100% DB uptime with 99.9% of speed SLA.

You love databases and have passion to push the limits of DB performance, scale, speed and availability to detect and fix issues. You leverage customer centric thought process in analyzing and understanding DB availability from HA and concurrency with point of view. You have a passion to keep the DB healthy and have automation as your strength to perform daily admin activities, monitoring and alerting framework You have good instincts backed by experience about how to detect performance issues using log analysis, query analytics tools.

You are not satisfied with status quo and strive to enhance and optimize DB security, stability and scalability. More than anything else, you love to delight customers with software that works flawlessly, repeatedly and functions even at peak loads.

Job Requirements:

• Engineering Degree in CS and/or Equivalent majors
• In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture version 9 to 12
• 6+ years of PostgreSQL DBA experience in a High Volume, heavy transaction database always up service
• Experience with PostgreSQL technologies including Streaming Replication, High Availability, Backup and Recovery
• Have proven experience in Query optimization and DB tuning for different production applications and use-cases
• Hands on with Administration Tools and Maintenance Utilities such as Vacuum and Reindex
• Be able to setup fine-grained and proactive monitoring & alerting
• Experience in doing multi-site real-time
• Expert level knowledge in at least one scripting language like shell or python and a strong understanding of Linux
• Ability to communicate your vision to project stakeholders and upper management
• Willing to work in 24X7 support model on-call basis
• Other NoSQL skills would be an added advantage

Responsibilities

• Homogenous and Heterogenous Migrations and administration of PostgreSQL
• Write and manage Stored Procedure and Function Development
• Installation, Configuration, no downtime Upgrades and Patching of Postgres system along with Writing Foreign Data Wrappers
• User and Role Management
• Performance tuning, query analysis and optimization
• Debug and troubleshoot DB problems causing production downtime and degradation of services with little or no assistance
• Provide configuration, monitoring and on-call support for development, test, and production environments
• Assist clients ( internal and external ) with PostgreSQL issues via remote methods
• Troubleshoot linux system issues and finetune linux parameters on the db servers for optimum performance
• Must communicate effectively both verbally and written
• 24x7 On-call support and regularly scheduled off-hours production installations on rotation basis
• Export and import data from and to a PostgreSQL database
• Willing to attain additional Certification for other RDBMS / NoSQL
• Willing to learn new skills that benefit the team and company as per need
