Roles and responsibilities Documents and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code. Upgrading existing software or developing new software applications alone or in a team. Writing and maintaining program code to meet system requirements, system designs and technical specifications in accordance with quality accredited standards Consulting with departments or customers on project status. Testing software to ensure the code is correct, fixing ('debugging') Prepares and installs solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming. Analyse, design, coordinate and supervise the development of software systems to form a basis for information processing problems. Tests new programs to ensure that logic and syntax are correct and that program results are accurate; assists lower-level programmers with programming assignments. Meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, continuous improvement, and goal accomplishment. Document code consistently throughout the development process by listing a program description, special instructions, and changes made in database tables. Analyse current programs, including performance, diagnosis and troubleshooting of problem programs, and designing solutions to problematic programming. Conducts system analysis and development to keep the systems contemporary with changing technologies. Responds promptly and professionally to bug reports. Reviews and repairs legacy code
