Job Summary JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for maintaining the Enterprise System Management (ESM) tools that provide reactive and proactive alerts that enable unscheduled disruption to IT services to be quickly identified. In addition the role of Event Configuration Technician L2 also includes constantly training of the Infrastructure Monitoring team on the Enterprise System Management (ESM) tools. The job level of Associate is the entry level for the Event Configuration Instrumentation team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
  • The role of Event Configuration instrumentation Technician will center on the following points
  • Ongoing support of the production Enterprise System Management (ESM) environment including;
  • Regular configuration of the monitors and alerts to reflect changes in the environment,
  • Platform Knowledge of Operations Bridge Tools(Omi,Sitescope,BPM etc),SCOM,NNM etc
  • Configuring monitoring types and alerts in tools like SCOM, BPM, SiteScope, AppD,Omi etc
  • Support tool troubleshooting and issue resolution
  • Dashboard creation and updating
  • Reporting on consistency and compliance across the monitoring tools
  • Fine-tuning and optimization of processes to ensure efficient operations

ANALYTICAL/DECISION MAKING RESPONSIBILITIES:
The role requires the individual to follow any guidance given by their senior Event Configuration Technician team colleagues. This role on Assistant level mainly requires:
  • Build-up knowledge in one of the Enterprise System Management (ESM) tools
  • Build-up knowledge on the incident management process
  • Perform structured and well documented tasks
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
  • Good communication
  • Basic organizational skills
  • Basic project management skills
  • Overall knowledge of Enterprise System Management tools, and good knowledge in at least one tool
  • Basic programming & scripting skills
  • Basic knowledge of databases (MS SQL / Oracle)
  • Good working knowledge in Operating Systems (MS Windows, Linux, UNIX) or Networking (router, switches)
  • English language skills excellent written and verbal communication

SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The individual on Associate level will always be supported by a senior colleague or the Lead Event Configuration Technician L2 who guides and mentor them on a day-by-day basis for tasks that need to be performed.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Flexible Hours due to the global nature of the role it may require the individual to attend calls either early or late in the day to accommodate colleagues in different time zones.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:EDUCATION:
  • A Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience

EXPERIENCE:
  • Over 1 to 4 years working within Information Technology
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the Hosting Services or Network space

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • ITIL Certification is preferred but not required
