Job Summary: Primarily responsible for the overall administration and technical support of the development and quality assurance systems. These areas are a mix of Sun hardware and software, Intel based Linux systems, and Intel based Windows systems totaling 60 machines. Secondary responsibilities will be end user support for desktops and laptops running Windows 2000 or XP. Applicant is responsible for all systems administration, monitoring, reporting, OS, and design of tools to manage the environment more effectively. Work closely with the production support staff to keep all environments as similar as possible. Work closely with development staff to meet the needs of the development community. Applicant will be part of the Global Technology Solutions group.Duties and Responsibilities: Monitors daily operations of the environment for availability and performance. Develops and maintains operational documentation and specifications on system builds and SOPs. Troubleshoot and fix hardware and software problems as they occur. Troubleshoot and fix networking issues (subnet and routing knowledge required) Backup and recovery of all systems and applications in the environment. Responsible for the identification and resolution of service level problems and the identification and support of critical tasks. Coordinate with the Security Administrator and Systems Analyst to improve and maintain the technical side of our systems. Act as a technical resource for all UNIX and Windows related questions within the organization.Job Specifications: This is a high-availability network and may require after-hours or occasional weekend work. Must be able to work independently but also be able to work well as a team member. Should show good leadership skills, and have strong time management skills. Commitment to continual improvement of the technical aspects of applications and operations. Should have a above average knowledge of networking. Excellent communication skills, interacting with technical support groups, customer support centers and vendors.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum Qualifications: Should atleast be a BE /MCA graduate At least four (3 - 6) years of hands on experience with building servers, installing operating systems, applying OS patches and hardening of systems. Operating systems include Solaris, Redhat Linux, and Windows are required Needs to have a strong UNIX and Microsoft background. Completed UNIX Administration certification programs are desired. Should demonstrate knowledge in the following application areas. Apache Oracle Database Oracle Application Server MySQL DHCP Monitoring Software SNMP SMTP DNS Veritas Backup Suite LAN, WAN, and WAP networking skills Should demonstrate knowledge in the following programming areas. PERL Java Shell Scripting Batch files
