Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) is the flagship product from the Security Technology Business Unit (STBU). ASA integrates award-winning Firewall services into a high-performance appliance. It's an extremely successful product. Though we take great pride in being the market leader for a long time, we are constantly innovating and enhancing our solutions to suit the changing needs of our customers. Our team works on leading edge security and threat mitigation solutions that are high-performing, scalable and easily manageable. We collaborate with other groups within Cisco to interoperate with their products and build solution architectures.

We see before us the challenge of redefining the role and characteristics of the firewall in a cloud computing environment where all services and vital resources are virtualized. Internet applications, protocols and services are ever changing as are the threats they face. Mission critical applications such as unified communications are used across the internet and are ever vulnerable to attacks. The next generation of firewalls has to be both applications and user-identity aware. These cutting edge technologies enable ASA to have finer visibility and control on who is doing what. The source of a packet stream is no longer a cryptic and evasive IP address, but a verified user.

What You'll Do

Currently, the ASA team in India is looking for talented and motivated individuals who can work effectively in a team-oriented environment, and contribute to the development and testing of our next-generation Firewall.

Role & Responsibilities

Work with a team of motivated A-players to

• Engage with customers to build innovative solutions
• Work closely with developers and marketing teams at various stages such as product definition
• Drive/collaborate with other technical leaders/software engineers on system/functional design.
• Architect and Develop ambitious portions of software independently and rapidly with a focus on quality in an Agile environment
• Mentor and lead junior developers in both onshore and offshore locations.
• Work as a software architect in a senior lead role on a project team of engineers involved in software development.
• Work closely with a multi-functional team to craft new features
• Work closely with fellow developers on SW/system architecture
• Review and sign off on requirements documents
• Write specification documents and drive sign-off
• Implement new features and extend existing functionality

Who You Are

• Strong Networking and protocol knowledge
• Solid experience in Firewalls and Network Security, TCP/IP.
• Programming skills in C
• 10+ years of Development Experience on Embedded systems in a Linux environment

Helpful skills:

• Experience with one or more of the following:
• NAT/PAT
• Protocol Inspection Engines
• Any L2 to L7 protocol
• Identity/Active Directory/Radius/LDAP
• Distributed Computing
• Classification Engines
• Designing management plane with world class configuration and reporting capabilities
• Designing security policy framework
• Network Management Systems
• VPN
