Job Summary The Functional Engineer is a key member of the Engineering Maintenance & Reliability (EM&R) team, responsible for executing maintenance activities, ensuring plant efficiency, and supporting the overall reliability of manufacturing operations. Key Responsibilities Shift Maintenance Execute assigned maintenance tasks as per the shift maintenance plan. Address machine and facility maintenance requirements within the unit. Increase efficiency by reducing downtime and optimizing equipment utilization. Prepare and submit shift engineer reports. Diagnose faults, troubleshoot equipment, and supervise critical repairs. Provide technical expertise to maintenance personnel. Participate in project development activities for new equipment. Collaborate with reliability engineers to extend equipment life cycles. Comprehensive Maintenance Planning Contribute to the development of comprehensive maintenance plans, including preventive maintenance, calibrations, and condition monitoring activities. Schedule shift activities aligned with the CMP. Execute planned maintenance tasks and update related documentation. Follow good engineering practices during maintenance activities. Perform validation, qualification, and calibration as per schedule. Prepare and update documents as per GMP requirements. Track and report on schedule compliance. Breakdown Maintenance Handle breakdown maintenance promptly and safely, adhering to cGMP. Receive and track job cards for breakdown activities. Maintain critical spare parts inventory to minimize downtime. Operate equipment only when trained and authorized. Adhere to SOPs and work instructions for unit operations. Maintain equipment, facilities, and block premises according to SOPs. Ensure compliance with GMP and safety norms. Update documentation and deviations in CipDox during operations. New Technology and Capex Implement new technologies initiated by management. Attend training programs and apply learnings to improve machine performance. Implement ideas generated through internal audits or idea generation sessions. Identify areas for energy conservation and implement improvement measures. Reduce operating expenses through waste reduction and work simplification. Verify contract invoices and prepare job orders as per estimates. Spares Management Manage material and spare parts inventory. Issue consumables, spares, materials, and log books to avoid delays. Maintain critical spare parts inventory. Assess and issue log book requirements. Classify and reuse unused or spare materials. EHS Compliance Prioritize safety during maintenance activities to prevent breakdowns. Complete pre-placement safety training. Monitor safe operations and report safety deviations. Maintain safety permits and ensure adherence to safety procedures. Ensure availability and usage of PPEs. Report safety incidents and attend safety meetings. Ensure compliance with safety training targets. cGMP Compliance Complete pre-placement cGMP training. Monitor cGMP compliance and report deviations. Maintain online documentation and ensure data integrity. Conduct training on cGMP, equipment operation, safety, and housekeeping. Optimize resource usage and ensure good housekeeping practices. Operate software systems as required (SAP, CipDox, QMS). Execute CAPAs as guided by the Senior Engineer. Prepare and maintain engineering documents related to cGMP and good engineering practices. Continuous Improvement Propose and implement ideas to enhance production, optimize resource usage, and reduce process cycle time. Participate in internal audits and idea generation sessions. Implement action plans to address deficiencies identified through audits. Stay updated on regulatory guidelines and product requirements. Undergo training on electrical engineering and leadership development.
