Description

JOB PURPOSE:Performs disposition of nonconforming materialthat results from material inspection. Uses information provided by thesupplier and Quality inspectors to determine if nonconforming material shouldbe scrapped, reworked, deviated, reclassified, or returned to thesupplier. Issues CARs to supplier, if necessary.

JOB DUTIES:

Performs disposition ofnonconforming material that results from material inspection. Uses informationprovided by the supplier and Quality inspectors to determine if nonconformingmaterial should be scrapped, reworked, deviated, reclassified, or returned tothe supplier. Issues CARs to supplier, if necessary.

Key duties caninclude:

  • EntersQuality rejection information into Corporate Quality systems
  • Communicates rejections to purchase finish suppliers andmanufacturing plants
  • Requestscorrective actions from purchase finish suppliers and manufacturing plants
  • Follows up with suppliers to drive towards final disposition ofrejected material
  • Creates rework purchase orders as required
  • Coordinates and monitors the return of reworked material fromsuppliers
  • Resolve issues reported by customers and process partners
  • Develop, communicate and maintain supplier packaging requirements

Customers includelogistics, operations, facility engineering, quality, purchasing, and othersupply chain functional areas.

Qualifications

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE/ REQUIRED QUALIFICATION:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering / Mathematics / Science / Commerce
  • Must be able to read Caterpillar blueprints at an advanced level.
  • 3-5 years of supply chain experience and 2-3 years in quality related areas.
  • Expertise in handling MS office tools (Access, Word, excel, presentation).
  • Strong customer focus, very good planning, organizing, interpersonal and coordination skills.
  • Experience in managing supplier communications / issues.
  • Excellence in verbal and written communications and ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people
  • Must possess strong collaborative, interpersonal and negotiation skills in order to drive common supply chain processes across multiple departments within a business division.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • APICS, CSCP/ CPIM certification
  • Experience with Caterpillar Parts distribution and knowledge on various Cat systems
  • Basic understanding of supply chain data and reporting
  • Certified 6 Sigma / CPS Green Belt, Qualification as a CPS Support Team Leader
