Job Summary Your new roleThis role is responsible for coding, designing and unit testing of the Garradin product. The developer will maintain and improve the Garradin code based on client requirements, by following our agreed SDLC practice and by working closely with the BA/Testers within the Garradin team.This role will have joint reporting lines into both the Development Manager /Development Lead in the Global Product Development in India as well as the Garradin Engineering Manager in Australia.
Garradin is a funds administration and taxation business that provides software to approximately 20 customers throughout Australia and New Zealand
Main Activities
  • Advanced level software development and coding for Progress OpenEdge
  • Undertake troubleshooting and problem solving of software defects, application and technical environment issues.
  • Advanced level ability to debug code and identify and rectify defects or data issues.
  • Develop and execute effective unit and function tests for all software changes.
  • Working with Business Analysts, Senior Developers and Technical Consultants, complete software design and estimation activities for complex enhancements
  • Working with Business Consultants, Business Analysts, Senior Developers and Technical Consultants, assist with formulating software solutions that address business requirements.

  • Undertake software builds and installations.
  • Assist with preparation and delivery of software releases.
  • Understand and follow technical and quality standards and procedures.
  • Suggest and recommend changes to technical standards and procedures.
  • Competently use project and team systems (JIRA, Confluence, EPM, Subversion, Ant, Jenkins) and document all work effectively.
  • Undertake and participate in peer reviews.
  • Participate effectively in team and project meetings.
  • Ensure assigned work is completed in a timely fashion and in accordance to agreed estimates.

What you ll need to succeed
  • B.E./B.Tech/MCA
  • 4-8 years of experience
  • Excellent working knowledge of Progress OpenEdge including the Progress Development Studio (GUI, OO, ADM, GUI for .Net. Structured Error handling, REST, JSON, XML)
  • A proven understanding of industry standard software development life cycles
  • Proven knowledge of databases to include performance optimization experience. Experience with the Progress Dataserver product is a plus
  • Troubleshooting and debugging techniques
