Job Summary

Your Role at Baxter

In this role, you will have the opportunity to directly contribute to saving lives through your technical expertise. You will take ownership of requirement gathering, analysis, detailed design, and verification activities for assigned products or projects. Along the way, you will provide mentorship to other specialists and play an active role in design reviews, helping to resolve complex problems.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Problem Solving & Innovation: Identify technical challenges and provide creative, innovative solutions, sharing your technical knowledge to strengthen the team.
  • Cost Optimization: Drive value engineering initiatives to identify cost-saving opportunities across the PSS product portfolio and manage projects from early feasibility to full implementation.
  • Design & Requirements Management: Ensure designs meet customer and technical requirements, validated through rigorous testing and verification. Work with finance to develop and manage capital budgets for individual projects.
  • Adaptability & Strategy: Incorporate insights from business, market trends, and competitive analysis to shape technical solutions that can adapt to evolving technology and clinical needs.
  • Documenting & Reporting: Create high-quality, detailed technical documentation to clearly communicate designs. Use existing tools and methodologies to track and report on product, project, and process metrics.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Proactively advise and mentor team members on developments or challenges that could impact their work or project timelines.
  • Design Tools Expertise: Utilize CAD software and FEA tools to develop and validate design concepts.
  • Continuous Improvement: Challenge project teams and existing work processes, identifying innovative ways to meet performance goals and drive project success.

What You'll Bring

  • Educational Background: Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • Experience: 6 9 years of experience in engineering, with a focus on cost reduction and alternative design solutions.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to generate alternative mechanisms or concepts, backed by theoretical calculations.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment. Excellent communication skills.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating change and driving creative solutions.
  • Industry Experience: Preferably experience in the medical device industry, as well as project management experience.
