Cloud Security Engineer Job in Avalara

Responsibilities Avalara Security is seeking a professional who is passionate about information security and cloud to join our Cloud Security team. The Cloud Security Engineer is responsible for working across the organization to deploy automated solutions aimed at addressing real-world risks to Avalara s information systems. The successful candidate for this role is versed in at least one programing or scripting language and will have a proven history of using automation to manage risk in one or more hyperscale cloud provider. The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of cloud security architectures, cloud security services, and experience engineering complex enterprise cloud solutions. Work closely with partner security teams, leadership, and engineering to design and implement security solutions that measurably reduce risk in Avalara s cloud environments Engineer automated solutions as code for multiple hyperscale cloud providers Partner with the Cloud Security Operations team to deploy enterprise solutions Provide cloud subject matter expertise for partner security teams Qualifications Degree in Information Systems, or Information Security related studies or 3 years experience with hyperscale cloud security (OCI, GCP, AWS, or Azure) or a related security field Strong knowledge and experience utilizing common cloud security services and solutions such as Identity and Access Management (IAM), Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM), and cloud security logging Experience and strong technical knowledge with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Git, Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines Experiencing using programming or scripting languages for automation Experience leveraging common cloud design patterns to support security solutions and integrations Demonstrated ability to work across a diverse set of teams to design and implement security solutions CISSP, CISA, or CISM certifications Understanding of SSAE18 SOC2, PCI-DSS, NIST, and ISO 27000 standards Experience deploying multi-cloud security services Experience improving cloud Identity and Access Management (IAM) services and processes Experience using a programming language to integrate with APIs Ability to drive program maturity by evangelizing modern secure architectures and services
