Skills:

  • 5+ years as Oracle DBA
  • 5+ years as PostgreSQL DBA
  • Experienced in migration projects. Specially Oracle to PostgreSQL
  • In-depth understanding of relational and dimensional database theory and concepts.
  • Significant practical hands-on experience with database administration, backup and recovery, performance tuning and high-availability solutions.
  • Detailed understanding of Postgres database server architecture, concepts, features, and high-availability technologies.
  • Expert knowledge of PL/PgSQL, triggers, and stored procedure development and optimization in PostgreSQL
  • Experience with database replication, hot stand-by, clustering, and table partitioning.
  • Linux platform familiarity, system resource monitoring and tuning.
  • High-level of proficiency with PostgreSQL in a Linux environment
  • Previous experience with MongoDB, DynamoDB, and Redis a plus.
  • Previous experience with PostgreSQL in the cloud, including Amazon RDS is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Configuration Management systems such as Chef, Ansible, or Puppet.
  • Working knowledge of Docker and previous production experience with PostgreSQL or other databases in a Dockerized environment a plus.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Working in tandem with our engineering teams to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the company.
  • Responsible for implementing, managing, and tuning high-availability 24x7 databases.
  • Supporting Engineering and Support teams.
  • Establish policies and procedures pertaining to data management, security, maintenance and utilization.
  • Develop, manage, and test database backup & recovery strategies, verifying data integrity.
  • Perform database installations, configurations, upgrades, and migrations.
  • Proactively monitor and tune for performance.
  • Responsible for capacity planning and recommending paths to account for application growth that are in line with industry best practices.
  • Consult with development and architecture teams to help meet continued application growth.
  • Define and implement database schema and configurations working with our development teams.
  • Database Administration (Oracle, MySQL, Postgre SQL Server, Mongo DB)
  • Hands-on experience in AWS Data Migration Services, AWS Schema Conversion Tool
  • Hands-on experience in Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Database Migrations
  • Hands-on experience in Database Consolidation, Continuous Data Replication.
  • Extensive experience in handing DMS, Goldengate and active data guard for replication
  • Create and maintain documentation of procedures, schemas and guides for troubleshooting database systems.
  • Collaborate on Database Automation activities to improve process efficiency and risk compliance Drive Stability initiatives by proactively reviewing and addressing Database performance and capacity trends Effectively participate and guide - 24x7 operational support shift model
  • manage high severity database issues impacting revenue applications working cross functionally across leads of infrastructure, network, and application teams Ensure centralized 24x7 Database Monitoring and Auditing Tools in place and effective in operation
  • Experience with Windows, Linux or UNIX operating systems
  • Problem management - Perform root cause analysis on trended DB incidents, performance tuning and major outages up through the application stack. Automation Development - Develop automation that can trigger off a variety of industry standard monitoring tools to resolve common issues in the environment or maintain operating levels. (ie. Automatic restart of processes, automated capacity management, etc ) Database Scaling Design - Contribute to the design of scaling the management of an enterprise database environment including high availability deployment, pluggable databases, encryption and more. ,
  • Review consistently on the usage of database inventory on-going basis and work on consolidation, migration and deletion of assets associated and ensure savings to IT spend
  • Research and evaluate new databases, technologies, and trends to provide innovative ideas and solutions to improve the existing infrastructure and support new projects and requirements.
  • Perform review of schema, stored procedures, and other changes to the database DDL.
  • Audit for data integrity and consistency across systems.
  • Work with data-warehousing and Business Intelligence tools.
  • Stay current with industry trends, making recommendations as needed to drive the company to excel.
