The VP of Corporate Development and M&A will be responsible for developing corporate development strategies and leading the pursuit and execution of M&A opportunities in support of overall business objectives.
VP of M&A and Corporate Development identifies and secures new sources of growth for Applexus including:
- Mergers and Acquisitions
- Divestitures
- Joint Venture, Co-Development, Product Licensing, and Supply Arrangements
- New Business Development
- Alliance Management
- Corporate and Regional Strategic Initiatives
The VP will work on strategic programs to strengthen and advance Applexus s business portfolio and will be a key contributor to the development and implementation of the overall business strategy.
The qualified candidate will have prior experience of pursuing and leading acquisitions, mergers, joint venture (JV) partnerships or similar transactions. We re seeking an individual who has a proven track record of success.
Responsibilities:
- Research, identify and lead all activities to support new sources of growth for the organization including prospective acquisitions, partnerships and organic investments
- Complete in-depth assessments of core and adjacent markets, including industry trends, value drivers, competitive positioning, and help develop actionable strategies for Applexus to successfully participate in these markets
- Supporting the business in the identification of gaps in current capabilities or roadmap and the identification of target companies, brands and other assets that could fill those needs
- Proactively engage with third parties to identify and secure new M&A opportunities, including industry liaisons, banker meetings and independent research
- Lead M&A transactions with key targets
- Conducting deal benchmarking analyses, initial drafting of term sheets, contract review and general deal management activities
- Develop financial models for company valuation including comparable company and transaction evaluations, discounted cash flows and LBO
- Work closely with business unit leads, COO and CEO to develop synergy cases and revenue growth opportunities
- Oversee due diligence and assist in negotiating key transaction documentation
- Lead cross-functional teams of internal and external constituents to develop and complete transactions
- Lead transaction execution through application of strategic, financial, negotiation, and project management skills. Manage post-transaction partner relationships to ensure proper execution of and accountability for committed deliverables
- Lead the integration of the acquired assets and the implementation of partnerships to ensure the full realization of synergies
- Providing thought leadership and support related to the evolution of Corporate Development strategy
- Work with product executives to articulate acquisition rationale and develop operating and financial models to support the business case
Qualifications and Skills:
- MBA from top-tier institution
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in corporate development, investment banking, or M&A consulting experience
- Demonstrated communication (written & verbal) skills, exceptional inter-personal leadership and influence skills
- A strong executive presence, and comfort with an external facing role is also required given the VP s interaction with target companies, external advisors, and Applexus senior executives
- The role will execute the majority of their own transactions without always support from external investment bankers, therefore deep, hands-on transaction execution experience is critical
- Experience in building and implementing a governance framework for deals
- Keen understanding and appreciation of a disciplined approach to negotiation, including a working knowledge of the key elements of term sheets, contracts, and various-types of commercial business transactions
- Experience/knowledge of M&A integration management.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills, with demonstrated quantitative ability and knowledge of statistics
- Advanced facilitation, influence management and consensus building skills
- Demonstrated relationship building, people management and leadership skills with a superior ability to make things happen through use of impact and influence and by building key relationships
- Strong track record of high achievement and growth in responsibility
- Background in IT Services, IT Product or Business Process Services industry is a plus
Location
For the ideal candidate, this role has the potential to be a remote position with flexibility in terms of where the candidate is physically based. Ability to relocate to Trivandrum is a plus, but not necessary.

Job Responsibilities
- Set up product vision and strategy and guide the success of a product
- Manage the entire product life cycle from planning to execution.
- Own the creative process of generating, developing, and curating new ideas and determine which ideas should be promoted into features to push the product strategy forward.
- Responsible for defining the requirements for each feature and the desired user experience.
- Communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and articulate the customer requirements and market requirements in to a logically sequenced and optimized product roadmap.
- Work closely with engineering on the technical specifications and ensure that teams have all of the information they need to deliver a complete product to market.
- Work with Product Development teams to ensure that they understand product requirements, business needs and actively participate in providing any needed guidance and clarification in a timely manner.
- Define the release process and coordinate all of the activities required to bring the product to market. Manage dependencies in and across releases to complete release phases and milestones.
- Analyse market and competitive conditions, laying out a product vision that is differentiated and delivers unique value based on customer demands
- Create buy-in for the product vision both internally and with key external partners
- Act as a product evangelist to build awareness and understanding.
- Gather, nurture product vision and requirements by working with customers and prospects, market research and competitive analysis.
- Develop product pricing and positioning strategies.
- Enable the field to best position the product, create and deliver training content for direct sales teams as well as partners and support teams.
