Job Summary
The Technician - Medical Records is responsible for maintaining the accuracy, confidentiality, and accessibility of patient medical records. This role involves a variety of tasks, including data entry, filing, retrieval, and quality assurance. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and have a strong understanding of medical terminology. Key Responsibilities: Data Entry: Accurately enter patient medical information into electronic health records (EHRs) or paper charts. Filing: Organize and file medical records according to established protocols and standards. Retrieval: Retrieve medical records promptly and efficiently upon request from authorized personnel. Quality Assurance: Review medical records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Scanning: Scan paper documents into the EHR system. Release of Information: Process requests for medical records releases in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Maintenance: Maintain the integrity and security of medical records, including storage, retention, and destruction. Data Analysis: Assist with data analysis and reporting as needed. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in medical records or healthcare administration preferred. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of medical terminology. Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information. Additional Skills (Preferred): Experience with electronic health record systems. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations. Coding and billing experience. Job Type: Full-time
