DESCRIPTION
Operations Finance Technology team, responsible for building technical solutions for multibillion World Wide Operational Cost analytic including but not limited to Inbound cost (Receiving / PO), variable Cost, fixed cost, outbound (Customer Shipments / Transportation), and Customer Service, is looking for a Software Development Manager.
In this role you will work with Product Management and finance teams to build the solution for Cost Analytics and Reporting. Your responsibilities include building technical APIs and web based solutions to allow one-click analysis over trillions of events. Successful candidates will work as part of a team to expand current solutions by working with a broad cross-section of the Amazon organization and spanning wide range of technologies. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, energetic individual to have a large impact in how Amazon can optimize the cost and understand implications of new business initiative on cost structure in most efficient and self-service way.
As a Technical Program Manager, you will help solve a variety of technical challenges and build/lead a team of extremely talented engineers. Given that this is an early-stage initiative, you will play an active role in translating business and functional requirements into concrete deliverables and build quick prototypes or proofs of concept in partnership with other technology teams. You will help invent new features, design systems, develop and deploy highly scalable and reliable distributed services. You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day. You should be comfortable with a degree of ambiguity thats higher than most projects and relish the idea of solving problems that, frankly, havent been solved at scale before. Key Responsibility:
Management of resources, staffing, mentoring, and enhancing and maintaining a best-of-class engineering team
Develop the long-term strategy and translate that into an achievable roadmap/action plan. Execute against plans and road-maps.
Work with engineers and development managers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach
Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management
Responsible for the overall development life cycle of a program
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
7+ years of relevant engineering experience
5+ years of technical program management experience
Basic Qualifications
BS/MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent
5+ years of experience building successful production software systems
Strong skills in project planning & execution, problem solving. Ability to take a project from initial scoping requirements through actual launch and support of the project
A strong track record of project delivery for large, cross-functional, projects
2+ years people management experience
Demonstrated delivery of large-scale, initially-ambiguous projects
Deep, hands-on technical expertise in high scale, service-oriented architectures
Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Cloud Computing (AWS, Azure)
Background in Mathematical / statistical modelling is a plus
Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle
Deep hands-on technical expertise
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
A deep understanding of software development in a team, and a track record of shipping software on time
Exceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive time-lines with optimal solutions.
