The Team: Physical store technology teams support solutions for Amazon's brick and mortar store. For example, one such store is the Amazon Books store, which offers a curated selection of books and an array of Amazon devices. It is a magical experience that combines the best parts of a neighborhood bookstore with Amazon.coms low prices and the expertise of passionate, knowledgeable staff who tailor their approach to the unique needs of each customer. While we use existing Amazon systems when possible, youll be working on challenging problems that need innovative solutions specifically for all Amazons brick and mortar store formats.

The Role: As a Software Development Engineer in Physical Store Tech, you will work in a team of talented engineers to build low-latency solutions for frontend (Javascript, CSS, hybrid), middle tier (Java, Spring) and backend (non-relational databases and other AWS services) as well as identify and evaluate new technology options for the challenges we are trying to solve. We are looking for a smart engineer who can effectively deal with ambiguity and work independently to clarify requirements, build prototypes and deliver results quickly. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
BS in Computer Science or related technical field (In lieu of degree, 4 years of relevant work experience).
At least 2 years of experience in the job offered or as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or a related occupation.
At least 2 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation must involve: designing and developing large-scale, distributed software applications, tools, systems and services using Java, Scala, Go, C#, or C++, and Object Oriented Design.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Industry experience building highly available, distributed services
Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Meets/exceeds Amazons leadership principles requirements for this role
Meets/exceeds Amazons functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
