Job Summary

Responsibilities

  • The Senior Linux System Engineer is responsible for architecting/design, implementing, and operating enterprise infrastructure and systems automation for HPC (High Performance Computing) Linuxin a global environment.
  • Configure and maintain application servers and processes, including monitoring of
  • system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability,
  • and security.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities.
  • Drive migration of on-prem applications to AWS, ensuring the cloud services meet requirements and follow best practices
  • Develop scripts to automate system administration tasks
  • Must be capable of working with minimal supervision & applies the necessary technical expertise for effective and efficient use while communicating with peers, customers and leadership.
  • Work with core production support personnel in IT and Engineering to automate deployment and operation of the infrastructure. Manage, deploy and configure infrastructure with Puppet, Ansible or other automation tools.
  • Solid experience in administering and deploying virtual and physical systems with Red Hat/Ubuntu.
  • Configuration/capacity planning, software products evaluation, and systems performance analysis and optimization.
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources, provide economies of scale, and simplify remote/global support issues.
  • Backup of servers, CI/CD, monitoring & upgrading security patches regularly and managing user access to servers.

Essential Skills

  • 6+ years of experience in managing large & diverse Linux environment including design, build, capacity planning, performance tuning and ongoing monitoring in enterprise level data center.
  • Technical understanding of cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, Google.
  • Experience with Docker and container managements systems (Swarm, Ansible, Kubernetes, OpenShift, etc.)
  • Experience with software load balancers, proxies, webservers etc.
  • 3-5 years of AWS experience
  • 5-8 years of Enterprise Linux experience
  • Advising and implementing AWS best practices
  • Highly versed in Linux/UNIX administration and best practices
