Job Summary
Roles and Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Database Administration of Microsoft SQL servers within co-lo, IaaS and PaaS Microsoft Azure environment including Azure Managed Instances.
providing support in non-production and production environments.
Owning, tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests, fulfilling requests and resolving incidents within SLAs.
Reviewing service-related reports related to disk space, backups and alerting on a daily basis to ensure service-related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs.
Responding to database related alerts and escalations and working with Technical Operations team to come up with strategic solutions to recurring problems.
Database Server Setup, Patching & Migration.
Participate in Disaster Recovery planning, processes, procedures, testing and execution.
Managing access control of SQL Server and databases.
Exposure to one or more high availability technologies - AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Cluster, Database Mirroring, Replication and Log Shipping.
Performance Monitoring of OLTP/OLAP database server and databases in MS SQL Server.
Creation/handling/monitoring of SQL Jobs.
Deployment of scripts, DB changes, and SSIS/SSAS objects.
Setup and monitoring of DB/Server Maintenance jobs and alerts.
Demonstrate the ability to work on multiple BAU operational activities and projects simultaneously, prioritise as required and work to a very high standard.
Liaise with other IT Operations team members and suppliers to ensure support and operational activities can be carried out and handed over across geographically dispersed staff.
Ensure IT operational documentation, build documents, processes and procedures are completed and maintained to a high standard.
Ensure IT standards, audit and compliance requirements and controls are understood and adhered to.
In addition to the above key responsibilities, you may be required to undertake other duties from time to time as the Company may reasonably require.
Due to the geographically dispersed nature of the company and IT teams it may require a degree of out of hours working including attending team meetings and interactive with other IT Operations team members.
Skills:
- Managed and Administrated SQL Server 2014/ SQL Server 2017/ SQL Server 2012/ SQL Server 2008 R2/ SQL Server 2005/ 2000 production and Non-production Servers.
Installing SQL Server 2005\2008\2012\2014\2017 and its service packs on Windows Environment
8-10 years of experience working in SQL Database environments with expertise on MS SQL Server 2012/2008/2008 R2/2005/2000
Experience in Database backup and disaster recovery procedures.
Experience in Replication, LogShipping, Mirroring and Always On.
Knowledge in Reporting Services, SQL Server Clustering and Log Shipping.
Performed daily tasks including backup and restore by using SQL Server 2005 tools like SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server Profiler, SQL Server Agent, and Database Engine Tuning Advisor.
Well versed in SQL Server technical skills and should be able to drive the problems and provide technical solutions to team members.
Knowledge on creating SQL objects like Tables, Stored Procedures, Views, Indexes, Triggers, Rules, Defaults, user defined data types and functions.
T-SQL Programming skills: Experience in query optimization & performance tuning. Used SQL Profiler, Execution Plan, Performance Monitor and DBCC Commands
Identify the opportunity areas and drive the initiatives from technical perspective.
Should be able to manage the customer escalations and
Hands on and extensive experience in IT industry practices and standards.
Proficient at Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
Process management:
- Improve working policies and procedures to ensure they are successful and ensure that the team is compliant.
Identify any process issues, notify the management and recommend a solution
Ensure adherence to rules, regulations, security and compliance.
