Job Summary

Technical skills and competencies

Must have skills

  • Experience with PostgreSQL / MySQL / Oracle RDBMS / MS SQL
    Server.
  • Interest in learning different database technologies and mastering
    them.
  • Experience with or working knowledge of database migrations
    between different databases.
  • Experience in shell/ bash/ python scripting would be essential.
  • Experience with monitoring solutions such as Nagios
    or Prometheus
  • Experience with configuration management tool such
    as Chef, Ansible, or Puppet.
  • Linux shell scripting experience (preferably bash)
  • Experience working with cloud providers such as AWS and/ or
    Azure and their appropriate tools.

Nice to have

  • Experience with PostgreSQL extensions and tools such as
    pg_repack and PgBouncer.
  • Experience with Storage provisioning such as adding, removing and
    extending volumes.
  • Linux Tuning Identifying I/O bottlenecks and CPU consumption.
  • SQL Tuning Identifying and tuning problematic SQL
  • Tuning production database configuration parameters for better
    performance and security.
  • Hands-on experience on the responsibilities mentioned above
  • Basic knowledge of Python, Perl and/or Ruby

Responsibilities :

  • Candidate must have experience with providing support on
    PostgreSQL preferably on Ubuntu/Debian Linux or Windows.
  • Responsible for Handling trouble tickets and on-call requests
    (find and clear locks, run SQL for developers, etc).
  • General database maintenance, patching, and upgrading.
  • Assist with automating DB provisioning process
