Position

Sr. Engineer /Assistant Manager Protection Systems

Purpose of the Position

To support Protection related activities of medium voltage and EHV class Transmission substations

Principle Accountabilities

• Support for Review & Audit of protection schemes, relay settings and configuration for protection system during O&M stage as per application.
• Routine testing/monitoring of substation protection system
• Root cause analysis and troubleshooting activities for O&M of substation.
• Support Testing, commissioning for new project

Role & Responsibilities

• Understanding various transmission substation configuration, and basics of protection for all elements.
• Understanding of Substation equipment and their operations with basic maintenance & condition monitoring.
• Understanding of CRP scheme, IED configuration, Hands on working with IEDs, scheme wiring and equipment schemes.
• Testing, Commissioning and troubleshooting of Protection system and scheme for new projects and O&M including Factory Inspection as per guidance.
• Implementation of modification for setting, configuration, scheme as per guidance.
• Daily / routine monitoring of substation events and occurrence and preparing relevant report / data to support RCA & Troubleshooting.

• Data collection for Occurrence Analysis (RCA), Reporting, Trouble shooting.
• Support for IMS, Reporting and maintaining relevant database.
• Required exposure, understanding and ability to observe safety aspects and procedures to carry out activities in live switchyard.

Requisite skills:

Functional

• B.E. (Electrical) with 3 to 5 years of Experience, preferably in Protection systems
• Understanding of Transmission system related equipment and Auxiliaries.
• Understanding philosophy, application and technology for Electrical Protection.

Behavioural

• Analytic
• Should be able to jell well with team.
• Dedication to work
• Managing relations with site people & coordinate activities.

Physical Standard (if any)

• Healthy enough for site work and travel to various locations.

Essential areas/ factors/ conditions in which incumbent should have experience

• Understanding of various Protection system and schemes for EHV system elements.
• Testing & commissioning of various protective relays and scheme at least for 132 kV level.
• Hands on experience for working with Relays, Scheme wiring and substation equipment operations.
• Hands on to operate various numerical test kits and prepare test plans as per applications.
• Understanding of Numerical technology and communication aspects for Protection system and relays.
• Should presently working in profile related to Protection area as above.
