This is a Senior Scientist role, reporting to the Research Department Manager in business area Industrial Automation (IA) located in Bangalore. You will be a part of ABB India Corporate Research Center (INCRC), co-located with ABB s largest global software development and engineering units. It is based in Bangalore, the silicon-valley of India. Its unique infrastructure places research, development, engineering, and service teams under one roof, increasing collaboration and reducing time to market, with no compromise on quality.

You will work, as Individual Contributor, in applied research projects developing resource efficient data analytics for edge and endpoint devices, machine learning and software technologies to build intelligent autonomous and automated systems for process industries.
Your responsibilities
- Identifying value-adding use cases and requirements gathering for data driven solutions in cooperation with ABB s business divisions and end customers.
- Investigating and evaluating efficient system architectures, machine-learning algorithms and software engineering approaches for edge computing nodes in embedded systems for specific applications in industrial process automation to perform runtime data analytic tasks such as anomaly detection. Such embedded systems typically have limited resources in terms of memory, computation and storage and strict non-functional requirements related to prediction and prescription.
- Performing Data exploration, pre-processing, analysis and evaluation.
- Exploring and visualizing data to gain an understanding of it and then identifying differences in data distribution that could affect performance when deploying the model in the real world.
- Developing prototypes and providing support for pilot evaluation and productization of solutions.

Your background
- Ph.D/M.Tech/M.E from a reputed University in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Data Science or Information Science or Electrical Sciences with good publication record.
- Required 2 to 7 years of experience with Ph.D and 5 to 10 years of experience with Master s Degree in usage of Data Analytics and Machine learning libraries for monitoring, diagnosis and predictive maintenance and relevant data visualization tools for edge and resource constrained embedded platforms.
- Should have good knowledge of Statistical Analysis, Machine learning (Supervised and Unsupervised learning techniques), Deep Learning, Model Optimization techniques such as quantization, knowledge distillation, weight imprinting, Federated learning, Time-series analysis and Signal Processing.
- Should have experience with Azure IoT or similar commercial or open source IoT platforms.
- Should have proficiency in embedded platforms preferably interacting with industrial data.
- Should have ability to communicate effectively in English with internal and external partners including academic community.
